This is what exactly happened with 2011 Rolls-Royce Ghost EWB. Spy photographers in Germany were successful in obtaining the initial images of the 2011 Rolls-Royce Ghost Extended Wheelbase (EWB). Ghost EWB marks Roll-Royce’s continuous efforts to carve out a new luxury niche that the uber-luxury brand has long left to lesser brands like Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW.
First take: It was 2006 Paris motor show we first heard from Rolls Royce that brand has started work on a new model series. The new car was reported in production with the expectations to go on sale by the turn of the decade. Well, the decade is almost over and we now have a glimpse of what has been reported. The teased images reveal the a whole new styling language and the vehicle comes out with much more effective blend of modern and traditional luxury cues. However, new Ghost maintains a considerable distance from BMW 7-Series - the vehicle is derived from - to appear as something different and appealing. And factors adding more to its elegance include front end that sits tall, with a tipped back grille framed in stainless steel that extends back on the hood.
Speculations: Though the technical details of the vehicle are scant but the Ghost EWB is likely to get power from a twin turbocharged 6.6-liter V12 engine, sourced from BMW, which churns out 563hp and 780 Nm of torque. Engine will be mated an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels, enabling the vehicle to race from 0-60mph in less than 5 seconds before hitting a top speed of 155 mph.
The 2011 Ghost EWBs dimension fit between Bentley Mulsane and Rolls Royce Phantom and its extended wheelbase features modified B-pillars and longer rear-hinged doors that open to expose a jamb-mounted umbrella and a ritzy, plus back seat that swallows two or three guests with a single gulp of over-the-top luxury. Well nothing is confirmed as of now but it’s expected that 2011 Ghost will be around 10 inches longer than the regular Ghost and its price tag is to vary somewhere between €200,000 and €300,00.
